Venues trade nights, organizers move rooms, and the printed table that was right in March misleads in May - our own research turned up sources contradicting each other on the same venues. So this page names the institutions and what they’re known for, and leaves tonight’s truth to the live listings where it belongs.

The names to know

Salón Canning (Palermo) - the storied salon floor, home to legendary organizer nights; the room dancers mean when they say “a proper milonga.” La Viruta - the famous late one, in a basement that doesn’t get interesting until the small hours and doesn’t empty until breakfast. La Catedral - the bohemian cathedral-of-a-warehouse where the young scene mixes lessons, art and dancing; the least intimidating famous door for a newcomer. El Beso - the connoisseurs’ close-embrace room, where the cabeceo game runs at championship level. La Glorieta - the beloved outdoor gazebo in Belgrano at sundown: free, open-air, and the gentlest possible first look at a real dancing crowd. San Telmo’s rooms carry the neighborhood’s antique-quarter romance and skew visitor- friendly.

Each is known for those characters; which nights each runs, verify same-day on the listings or the venue’s own pages - that’s not this page being lazy, it’s the only claim about milonga schedules that stays true.
